Symptoms in men

Symptoms in women
Around 60% of women have no symptoms, however the remainder may have a vaginal discharge or a burning sensation when passing urine.
Symptoms if acquired anally
Around 90% of persons have no symptoms, however the remainder may have anal discharge and pain.

Untreated Gonorrhoea can spread to other parts of the body and can cause
- Infertility in both men and women
- Gonococcal arthritis (with pain and swelling of joints)
- Gonococcal septicaemia (with generalised symptoms including pain and fever and can in rare cases affect the brain or heart and can cause death)
